Job Description:
Overhead Transmission Lines Electrician Technician

1. Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair high voltage electrical transmission lines and equipment,
including towers, poles, and conductors
- Perform construction and maintenance work on overhead transmission lines, including
stringing, sagging, and tensioning conductors
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment, including bucket trucks, digger derricks,
and cranes
- Work at heights, including climbing towers and poles, and perform tasks in a safe and
efficient manner
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults and issues on high voltage transmission lines
- Collaborate with other linemen, engineers, and technicians to ensure successful project
execution
2. Technical Requirements:
- Completion of a lineman training program or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience as a lineman electrician, with a focus on high voltage transmission
lines
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory, including circuit analysis and electrical safety
- Familiarity with OHTL construction and maintenance practices, including stringing,
sagging, and tensioning conductors
- Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams, blueprints, and specifications
- Proficiency in the use of specialized equipment, including bucket trucks, digger derricks,
and cranes.
3. Safety and Health:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including OSHA regulations and company
safety policies
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including hard hats, gloves, and
safety glasses
- Participate in regular safety training and meetings to stay up-to-date on best practices
and procedures
- Report any safety incidents or concerns to supervisors and management
4. Physical Demands:
- Ability to work at heights, including climbing towers and poles, and perform tasks in a safe
and efficient manner
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, including conductors, insulators,
and transformers
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and
precipitation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple tasks and deadlines3
5. Teamwork and Communication:
- Collaborate with other linemen, engineers, and technicians to ensure successful project
execution
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and management to ensure
that project requirements are met
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best
practices and procedures.
6. Emergency Response:
- Respond to emergency situations, including power outages and electrical faults, in a safe
and efficient manner.
Participate in regular emergency response training and drills to stay up-to-date on best
practices and procedures
- Collaborate with other linemen, engineers, and technicians to resolve emergency
situations and restore power to affected areas.
